School Closure

13 March 2020 (by admin)

*UPDATE ON SCHOOL SITUATION*

Dear Parent / Guardian,

There has been a lot of media coverage over the last 24 hours regarding school closures and the obvious impact this decision would have on the wider community. I want to give you all an update on how Ballynahinch Primary School is preparing for what is sounding increasingly like a ‘when’ not ‘if’ scenario.

  • We are monitoring all communication from the Department of Education & Education Authority on how to respond to any confirmed cases of Covid 19 within the school setting;
  • Both St. Patricks PS and ourselves have decided to suspend all Shared Education trips and activities with immediate effect, this will be reviewed after Easter;
  • Our Mother’s Day Tea Party scheduled for Friday 20th March is unfortunately cancelled;
  • Should the decision be made to close schools, each class teacher will send home school work and instructions with what is required (you will receive more details via your child’s teacher through SeeSaw);
  • We are continuing to educate all the children on the importance of good hygiene, particularly the need to wash our hands;
  • After school clubs are suspended immediately until after Easter, any outstanding lessons will carry over into Term 3;

Obviously we are currently unsure of what future decisions the Executive is likely to make regarding school closures however, we feel it is important that we act sooner rather than later with our pupils in mind.

All of the above is subject to monitoring and review.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr M. Moore
